Commission for Higher Education is now ISO 9000:2008 certified. The Commission was bestowed with the coveted award by the Kenya Bureau of Standards with effect from 2nd of August 2011.

The quest for ISO certification began way back in 2007. The Commission has since then focused on the track, maintained handwork, undeterred by the challenges and now proud by the achievement.

The Commission has successfully undergone a series of rigorous audit phases and met the international ISO quality standards.

Commission Secretary Prof. Standa thanked all members of staff for their collective role towards this achievement. The CS also called for continued vigilance, dedication and fine tuning in all areas for safeguarding and maintaining quality management systems.

Meanwhile, arrangements are in place to have an elaborate ceremony to recognize this important achievement.

Management University of Africa adds to LIA roll

Management University of Africa (formerly Kenya Institute of Management) was awarded a Letter of Interim Authority by the Commission for Higher Education on 2nd September 2011 at CHE grounds.

Colour, pomp and jubilation abuzz in the air accentuating the institution’s leading role particularly in management programmes.

The exquisite arranged and well attended event was graced by key officials from the Commission and Management University of Africa. The Chief Guest was Commission Chairman Prof. Ezra Maritim.

The Chairman pointed out the need for the African continent to reclaim its glory in the 21st century in which higher education institutions should play a leading role attainable by having an education in the perspective of an investment and governance. Prof. Maritim also called on the higher education institutions to diversify programmes and mode of delivery to embrace modern times through use of e-learning to enhance access.

Prof. Maritim advocated for a sound and effective system of education geared towards social economic development as well as attainment of vision 2030. “There is need to forge sustainable partnerships with industry players and incorporating moral and ethical values for overall societal progression,” Prof. Maritim said.

Management University of Africa senior Council members and Board of Trustees members also give their address and expressed their commitment towards steering the new institution to global competitiveness. Chairman MUA University Council, Eng. Michael Kamau stole the moment by his unexpected preamble address in fluent Swahili.

Other notable officials who graced the occasion were; the Commission Vice- Chair Prof. Amb. Judith Mbula Bahemuka, Commission Secretary Prof. Everett Standa and Deputy Commission Secretary (Planning Administration and Finance)
